Ready for the beach

Hre i show you some of the pics i toke during my holidays, but first, i wanted to show you some pics i saw i the magazines about "how the celebs go to the beach". It's very common see them with hippie and fresh dresses, personally i love them! They're a great option! The perfect complements are the sunglasses and hats!

Well, i don't have the Alessandra Ambriosio, Kate Moss or Olivia Palermo "pocket" but i'm so happy with my humble dress, vintage hat and Billabong purse. A look ver relaxed inspired by the celebs. What do you think? What is your must to go to the beach?

Khaki and raspberry

Me he hecho cuenta de PINTEREST! :P

Tow colors i'd never though combine together...people change! haha Jokes away, i consider my self very bad making odd combinations, with different colors or prints. That's what i'm always so "classic". I don't like to risk and lose so...! But the raspberry color with the green of the blouse match perfect with my new military pants from Pull&Bear so it was to easy for me. I've seen the knot on blouses of many many celebs in the magazines so join the trend! What do you think? By the way, i have a new account on Pinterest, so if you want to follow me HERE you got! :P

P.S: I'll visit your blogs while i can. My mum fell down some days ago and she has broken two ribs so i have to do now the house's work.

About Me

Hola!

Hi there!! My name is Marianela and I’m from Tenerife. I am a happy, simple, honest, natural, sensitive (even though it doesn’t look like it) and spontaneous girl (my mom always tells me to “count to three” before speaking). I’ve got quite a character and I’m a life-family-chocolate lover! (I’m in love love love with my husband)

Si, si, has leído bien, jaja.

I started this blog in November 2011 with a lot of effort and determination. Despite the fact that most bloggers start a blog as a hobby or as a space to share their passion for fashion, I started mine to seek for economic benefits. YES, YES I know, you’ve read right, hahaha. Let’s go back a bit in time to understand better the “ugly-truth” I just said (told you I was honest). I finished my degree in Social Work, after 4 months I started working on my field. When my contract finished, I went to USA for 3 months as a babysitter and came back in September 2011. After two months of seeing the scarcity of jobs, I told my husband (back then my boyfriend): “I need to earn some money” then he said: “Then make a fashion blog, you like that staff and people make money out of it”. And that was the cold start of Marilyn’s Closet.

NADA. 0 patatero...Todo me sonaba a chino.

At the beginning I wanted a blog about fashion and new trends; how to combine certain garments, what type of clothes fits best according to the type of body, what’s the best hair style regarding your face shape and that kind of things. However, once I saw the good reaction towards my first pictures, I became more confident about the whole blogging matter, which led to the creation of the egoblog (got to say that I hate that name, haha). I didn’t really know what a blog was, I honestly had no idea about web designs, HTML codes, followers, entries, platforms, gadgets. Nothing. It all sounded like Chinese to me.

Looking through other blogs that I found by chance, I got to the conclusion that from the very beginning I wanted my photos to have a certain quality and that I wanted them taken in beautiful places as long as that was possible. So I asked my cousin for her reflex photo camera and I used it until my family understood that the blog was for the long run and I got one of my own for Christmas. Searching for the quality I wanted made keeping the blog updated more difficult. Up to today, it still demands more effort from me.

The truth is that regarding remunerations the blog didn’t really make a big difference from my previous state. It seems to be very easy, but long hours of work and support are needed. Brands sent me emails asking for collaborations in exchange of free products (free clothing and more, which was great) but when it came to money…. Nothing!  The thing was that I had had already feelings attached to the blog and the followers, so I wasn’t able to quit. Now I’m simply can’t leave it.

So here I am still, working every day harder and harder so this project continues and gets to a point where it is well known J. I’m not sure if I’m good enough for that, but what I do know is that I will put all my determination, love, effort and excitement to achieve my dream.

No me olvido :)

I would like to thank everyone who have encouraged me to continue with this blog, to all of you who comment on my blog day after day and help me to carry on with it, and specially a big thank you to my husband, who is the one taking the pictures (I make him go crazy, but also crazy in love), to my cousin and to those who have given me some of their time. And obviously, this project is 80% yours! Marilyn’s closet wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for all you. I’ll never forget that J

¡ MILLONES DE GRACIAS POR ESTAR AHÍ !

Big thank you for being there!!
